Screenshot Workshop
Pre-Workshop Questionnaire

This workshop is a piece of creative research. It is an experiment in what happens when AI tries to read the private logic of a personal image archive, and a group of people push back. Your screenshots are the raw material. What the AI makes of them, and what you make of that, is the work.

1 Your Screenshot Practices
What is typically happening on your screen, and what motivates you to save it? Write in your own words.
If so, what typically brings you back?
What made it worth keeping in retrospect?
2 Your Screenshot Types
Rather than organizing your screenshots by app or subject matter, we want you to think about the different reasons you save them. We are interested in screenshots from your phone only, not from a computer. You might identify two types or you might identify eight. There is no expected number, and you know your collection better than we do.

For each type, give it a name, describe briefly why you save these, and upload as many examples as feel representative. We suggest 4 or 5 per type, but more is welcome. The name and description you write are as important as the images themselves, because they tell us something the AI cannot read from the pictures alone.
3 Privacy
During the workshop your screenshots will be visible to your small group of 5 and, in the shared class view, to all 25 participants. How comfortable are you with that?
Let us know how you feel so we can prepare accordingly.
4 Consent
Your screenshots and AI-generated descriptions will be visible to your small group and, in anonymized form, to the full class during the workshop. This workshop is part of a creative research project examining how AI reads personal image archives and how people contest those readings. Your anonymized submissions become part of that body of work. If you would prefer your data not be used for research purposes beyond the session, contact the facilitator at [email protected] before April 1st.
Your responses will be reviewed before the workshop. Thank you.

We will review your screenshots before April 1st.
See you at the workshop.
